Police? ~ 2nd Free Writing



I started to run. I jumped off the roof, I glided down the rope. The night was covering the surroundings, hiding my face. I cloaked myself black, from head to toes. With a big heavy backpack hanging onto my shoulders, I moved myself fast, rushing my feet.
            Nobody chased me, but I kept running. I saw no face along the road that I ran into. There was a narrow path leading into a bright light at the end of the tunnel. That was where I stopped. As my body bending down, I took a heavy breath.
            “Where do you think you’re going, cat burglar?” a mysterious voice came out of nowhere, shocking my ears. I began to tremble.
            “A sinner like you has no rights to stray around, abusing freedom. Now, put down that backpack, or else…” that big uniformed man unleashed his gun out of the holder attempting to freak me out.
            “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense,” that big old cop demanded.
            With the gun pointed at me, my hands were shaking, but my feet weren’t. I took a big fast step backward, and started to backwardly run away from that vicious-looking police. I ran as fast as I could. I reached the other end of the tunnel. I was relief.
            “Great, I made it! I cannot see any silhouette behind! God, how fat that cop was? How the freak couldn’t he chased me? Bah, whatever. That damn officer had ruined my ‘playtime’ night. I’d better be going home,” I told myself as I was breathing heavily.
            That was the last thing I knew before I woke up the next morning. As I stepped out my house, the errand boy passed me throwing a copy of the latest issue. The headline said, ‘A Robber Impersonating a Police Officer Was Found Guilty and Arrested with a Backpack Full of Money and a Pistol Toy.’

I Am Freedom! My Name is Freedom! (Writing Ass.7: Defining Term)

Freedom

 Freedom is the absence of restriction upon your rights to do your will, to think, to belief in something and to hope for something to happen. The time you are able to play football with your friends when the field is poured with rain, it is freedom. You will probably catch flu, but nobody can ever stop you from kicking the ball drenched in chilling raindrops. When you are able to be critical to your government and ask them why they need luxurious facilities, that's freedom. When you are able to put faith upon your God even though you never see Him, that's an incredible freedom. And most of all, when you are able to dream high, hoping that someday you will be able to change the world without being doubtfully rejected and told that your sincere dream, hope and faith are just mere naiveties, that's an unquestionable freedom.

Do You Lead Yourself by Strenght, Lust or Heart?: Writting Ass. 6



Topic Sentence: Leaders are visualized as one of three major figures.
1.      Lead for authority
a.       Act as the only one who has rights and put aside the others’.
b.      Use his rights to limit others’ and keep it for his own sake.
c.       Consider the people as something he can control and play with.
2.      Lead for popularity
a.       Act friendly and be kind to people just to attract the mass.
b.      Use his rights to promote and acclaim trust from the people.
c.       Consider the people as enemies that may take over his position.
3.      Lead for responsibility
a.       Act firmly and concern about the people he leads.
b.      Use his rights to improve the prosperity of his people
c.       Consider the people as the part of the organization that can help it improved

Lead For Control, Acknowledgement or Duty

            Viewed from their intentions, leaders are visualized as one of these three major figures. The first one is a leader who uses his authority to control others. He will always act as the only one who has rights and never consider the others. He will use his authority to fulfill his will and orders his people to do whatever he wants. He also considers others as slaves that he can command rudely. This kind of leadership is most likely ended with coup d’etat, like Libya’s leader Moammar Khadafi and Egypt’s Housni Moubaraq. The second one is a leader who seeks popularity. This leader will try to act as good as he can to attract the mass and put their trusts on him. He will use his authority to promote himself by campaigning his good sides and hiding the problems he has. This will raise people’s trust. The reason why he does these is because he considers the people as enemies who may take over his leadership so he has to keep their trust. The last kind of leaders who is hard to find these days is a leader who dedicates his life to take responsibility for his people. He will act as firm as he can to keep people’s rights justified. The authority he has he will use to improve the prosperity of his people instead of using it for his advantages. This kind of leadership will show us a horizontal relationship between the leader and his people instead of the traditional vertical relationship since he considers his men as the part of the organization that can help it improved. It can be inferred that his principle is “to take responsibility and gain prosperity”.

A Colorful Garden of Sounds (WA4)


Looking through my glasses, I found some factors that make a boyband worse than a group of musicians; I mean the one that plays musical instruments. First of all, in live performance, a boyband attracts people with their dances. They usually sing the songs accompanied by some unique moves that people considered as dances. Meanwhile, a group of musical instrumentalists of course will show their skills in playing instruments to impress the watchers. Usually this group consists of a guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, a vocalist and occasionally a keyboardist. For me, the talent in playing music instruments needs more intelligence than just moving our body in a specific formation. Second, a boyband nowadays produces music for the importance of industry and puts the essence of art aside. A group of instrumentalists does music mostly because they have passion in music besides doing it for a living. Finally, most boybands have the same kind of music and it makes the world of music a bit boring. On the other hand, there are vast varieties of genre for the instrumentalists. For instance, Blink 182 has the soul of punk, while the All American Rejects plays alternative rock and Snow Patrol is a bit of brit-pop. Coldplay gives some sort of ambient in their songs, Angels and Airwaves has some electronic echoes in their songs, while in Indonesia there is Steven and The Coconut Trees that plays Reggae and local artist like AA Rock and Roll that gives jazz touches in their songs and many other bands. This diversity gives the world a colorful garden of sounds.

My Pride of EED (Mr. Eka Project)


Becoming one part of EED is a pride for me. If EED was a tree, then it would be a big banyan tree whose leaves were slices of paper full of knowledge and memories. EED has been giving me many lessons and memories that make me proud of being one of its members. EED is perhaps the most successful and achieving department in Undiksha that has given births to many skillful and notable graduates. The success and achievements earned by this department show the greatness of EED. This greatness plants a seed of pride inside its members, including myself. Just like its motto says, “EED is the kingdom of a thousand windows”, surely the windows are wide open to show us a bright future of pride and hope.

More confident
Speak fluently to other people
The lecturers give some motivation, so I can be sincere in doing anything and be not afraid of doing it
More knowledgeable
The lecturers take full concern about scoring so it makes me focus on what the lecturers say so I will not fail on their course.
By focusing my mind on the course I can understand what the lecturers say and I get much new knowledge from them.
More adventurous
Getting more freedom to explore the world around me
Curious about the new environment



I didn’t expect that attending college would affect my personality, but now I can feel that my personality has changed in a positive ways. First of all, I become more confident of myself in some ways. I was a kind of person who became stutter when I talked to the people that I barely knew. But now I feel like my mouth has become lighter than it used to be that I don’t pause at any words that I speak. Another thing is that I get more knowledge since I entered college. The lecturers take full concern about scoring and it makes me focus on what they say so I will not fail on their courses. By focusing my mind on the courses I can understand what the lecturers say and I get much new knowledge from them. The most fun part of being a college student is that the spirit of adventure steadily grows within my soul. Ever since I entered college, I have to stay in a boarding house without my family. Living alone and being away from family have awarded me a handful of freedom that I can hardly drop. I have lots of curiosity about the new environment and this freedom gives me a chance to explore the new world and feed my hunger of curiosity about it. I must say that the time in college is the most crucial phase in my life that has changed me a lot in positive ways.
