Three Ways of Living: Untaian Lepas Saat Kuliah

Since the age of Aristotle, the ways of how people live has been sometimes classified into three categories. The first one is the life of enjoying or consuming. People living this way are usually kids and teenagers as they always consume foods and get served and spoiled by their parents. It doesn't need much effort to live this way. It is normal to live this way in the early age since young people especially, tend to fulfill their need of secular pleasure. The second one, life of doing things/working usually happens to the people who want to pursue or achieve something. They usually work or do hobbies to gain money, learn, and improve their skills and quality of life. This type requires physical efforts. The people gain happiness and pleasure for having accomplishments in their works and hobbies yet they may also feel disappointed if they fail to improve. The last one which needs the most effort is the life of helping and devoting oneself to others. The people may volunteer themselves to rescue and help the victims of accidents or natural disasters, participate in charity programs or do other things with a purpose to help improve others' lives. It requires mental readiness and efforts and it is hard for most people to live this way since they have to disregard their lives and concern the others'. But as the proverb says, "what goes around comes around", their sacrifices will turn into a long-lasting spiritual happiness. So, struggling to help others is far more delightful than eating a box full of tasty McDonalds' Big Mac.
